How to Make Protein Balls Vegan
Two easy swaps take any protein ball vegan:
- Maple syrup (or dates) instead of honey — honey isn’t vegan.
- A plant-based protein powder — pea, hemp, brown rice, or a blend.
- Dairy-free chocolate — check the label; plenty of dark chocolate is naturally vegan.
- Nut or seed butter for binding and healthy fats (already vegan).
Ingredients
- 1 cup natural peanut or almond butter
- ½ cup plant-based protein powder (vanilla or chocolate)
- ½ cup ground flaxseed
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
- ⅓ cup dairy-free dark chocolate chips
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of sea salt
- A splash of warm water, only if the mix feels dry
How to Make Vegan Protein Balls
- Cream it. Stir the nut butter, maple syrup, and vanilla until smooth.
- Add the dry stuff. Plant protein powder, flax, and salt — stir to a thick dough.
- Fold in the dairy-free chocolate.
- Adjust & chill. A splash of warm water if dry; chill 20–30 minutes.
- Roll into ~16 balls.
Easy Variations
- Mocha: add 1 tsp instant espresso (hi, Loca-Mocha fans).
